What to expect in a season

Belleville Spirits competitive program provides athletes aged 8 to 18 the chance to compete at the highest levels in Ontario. For the 2025–2026 season, the Spirits may field one or more girls’ teams in the following age categories:
Teams and age groups are subject to change based on tryout attendance and the availability of coaches

Tryouts

Tryouts are held each September, with a $20 fee per player. To register, please complete the Tryout Form above.

Athletes should bring:

  • $20 tryout fee per player (cash at the door only – no e-transfers)
  • Their own basketball (see size chart below)

  • Indoor shoes

  • A spill-proof water bottle

  • A reversible practice jersey

    (if you don’t have a jersey or ball, some can be provided)

 

Seasons

The competitive season runs from September to May and typically includes:

  • Two practices per week (1.5–2 hours each)

  • 30–35 games (OBL weekends, overnight tournaments, tri-meets, and exhibitions)

  • Certified Canada Basketball coaches

  • Ontario Basketball’s Ontario Cup tournament or Provincial Championships

  • End-of-season banquet

U15–U19 practices are scheduled with the high school season in mind.

Fees & Expenses

Player registration fees vary each season and are determined at the beginning of the year based on club costs per player, with no profit added.

Player Registration Fees:

  • 2025/26: TBD

  • 2024/25: $900

  • 2023/24: $800

  • 2022/23: $675

  • 2021/22: $750

Registration fees are due upon registration and can be paid either in full or through installment payments.

Additional player expenses may include:

  • Travel expenses

  • Hotels and meals

  • Indoor basketball shoes

  • Reversible practice jersey

  • Indoor basketball (see size chart)

Team Sponsorships:
To help reduce costs for players and families, teams are encouraged to seek sponsorships from local businesses or community partners. Sponsorships play an important role in keeping the program affordable and supporting opportunities for athletes to compete at the highest levels.

 

Financial Assistance

KidSport supports children who need financial assistance with sport registration fees and equipment costs.
